Shameful comments about women by politicians

Yeah, and you probably thought Trump was the only one.

Artists Zoë Buckman and Natalie Frank collected these quotes and put them on a 30 foot long wall for all to see. They named it 'We Hold These Truths To Be Self-Evident'. Shame on them.
They took the title from Elizabeth Cady Stanton's "Declaration of Sentiments and Resolutions," delivered in 1848 at the first women's rights convention in Seneca Falls, New York.

Sundays By PostPanic

Sundays - a film about our future. Support this on Kickstarter.

“Sundays (working title) is a feature film idea created and written by Dutch commercials director Mischa Rozema. It is a project he has been living and sleeping with for the past years. It is the result of stories inhabiting his head, images that need to be visualised and the the desire to create a film completely different to anything we’ve seen before. The story is there, so is the research. What we are asking your help with is the opportunity to create a short film – the first step on the path to realising a feature film – using the skills and passion of Mischa and his team at PostPanic and Savage.”

“We’re raising money through Kickstarter to make this short film. We want to show what is visually possible when creative integrity is closely guarded from the beginning. We don’t want to risk diluting Mischa’s vision by 3rd parties forcing him to become more mainstream and commercial. We want to show what he is capable of as a storyteller when he has complete control over the direction.”

All Eyes On You

First edition of Britz Petermanns shop window installation project.

The series is starting with “All Eyes On You”, a bunch of different sized eyes who follow the passers-by. Simple concept, but the effect was immense. The passers-by loved it especially the kids react with the installation without any inhibitions.

Mark Laita 'Created Equal'

Beautiful project by Mark Laita 'Created Equal'.

"Created Equal is different from my other work in that it’s not politically correct. Perhaps it’s a reaction to all the years of working for advertising clients, producing work that was pleasing to look at. Almost all commercial work has a committee or focus group making certain that the end result is “nice.” I felt the need to produce something that was raw and real, as life truly is, not just what we aspire to.

The more shocking to our sense of what’s “right,” the better. That’s why I sought out the worst pedophile I could find (with a list of the most horrible convictions you can imagine) and a beautiful and innocent little girl (photographed with her mother’s consent of the pairing of images). If the viewer cringes from the pairing that’s great. I think a lot of us don’t think what you see in Created Equal exists in our city, but take a look at your neighborhood’s Megan’s list website sometime and tell me how “nice” your town is. Every city in the U.S. has sex offenders, prostitutes, drug addicts along with wonderful humanitarians, philanthropists and leaders. I aimed to depict our country as it is, not as we would like to think it is."

Face To Facebook

Stealing 1 million Facebook profiles, filtering them with face-recognition software, and then, posting them on a custom-made dating website, Lovely Faces, sorted by their facial expressions characteristics.
That's what artists Paolo Cirio and Alessandro Ludovico did.

"Facebook, an endlessly cool place for so many people, becomes at the same time a goldmine for identity theft and dating - unfortunately, without the user's control. But that's the very nature of Facebook and social media in general. If we start to play with the concepts of identity theft and dating, we should be able to unveil how fragile a virtual identity given to a proprietary platform can be. And how fragile enormous capitalization based on exploiting social systems can be. And it'll eventually mutate, from a plausible translation of real identities into virtual management, to something just for fun, with no assumed guarantee of trust, crumbling the whole market evaluation hysteria that surrounds the crowded, and much hyped, online social platforms."

Julian Wolkenstein - Echoism

""Echoism" plays with the notion of your own identity. What do you look like? What are the things that make you look like you - your identifying features? If you are made symmetrical, do you consider yourself more beautiful, less so, or is it just weird? Or is it you at all? Do you have a best side? What is to be said of left and right brain dominance?"

"The process is a face-to-camera portrait, the image is split into a left and a right section, then one side is horizontally flipped.
These images are recombined to create two separate and symmetrical identities of the subject.
Feel free to upload your image more than once, as it is a web cam or iphone thing it has a sense of immediacy, a moment captured - so perhaps you feel one way in front of a webcam taping away on work, and another way out at night in a bar with an iphone."

IOCOSE 'Sunflower Seeds on Sunflower Seeds'

"IOCOSE exhibits a new artwork at Tate Modern, made from a previous artwork at Tate Modern.

The artist group has thrown several real sunflower seeds on Ai Weiwei's porcelain 'Sunflower Seeds'. The porcelain seeds, previously exhibited at the Turbine Hall at Tate Modern, are now part of a new artwork by IOCOSE.

The new artwork looks exactly the same as the previous one, as the natural seeds and those made of porcelain are indistinguishable from each other. IOCOSE reclaims the authorship of the new installation and reminds viewers of Ai Weiwei’s previous statement: 'what you see is not what you see, and what you see is not what it means'.

The artwork will be on exhibition from the 29th of January 2011 until the 2nd of May 2011."

Why Are You On My Train?

"Have you ever ridden the train at 3 PM on a Tuesday or 11 AM on a Thursday and thought, “Who the hell are all these people?!”

Well, we’ve decided to find out. That’s right, we’re spending time interviewing [read: harassing] strangers with our Flipcam on a New York City subway line near you."

The Noun Project

Their Mission:

"sharing, celebrating and enhancing the world's visual language"

The Noun Project collects, organizes and adds to the highly recognizable symbols that form the world's visual language, so we may share them in a fun and meaningful way.

Here is our pledge to you:

Free

The symbols on this site are and always will remain free. We believe symbols can not be effectively shared with the world if they are not free.

Simple

Everyone likes simplicity. We want you to be able to come to our site and effortlessly find and obtain what you are looking for. Simple as that.

Fun

We think a language that can be understood by all cultures and people is a pretty amazing thing. We also think our symbols and the objects or ideas they represent are works of art worth celebrating. Check out our store.

Highest Quality

We get excited about things like scale, proportion, and shape. We are committed to design and quality in everything we do.
