Elon Musk's Boring Company

Elon Musk's new idea of tunnels below the city is fascinating. I think a lot of people make fun of him but respect for someone who tries to find a solution and not only on paper. This is the video he showed during his TED Talk in Vancouver.

In Amsterdam that would be a problem, Amsterdam is build on poles. We have a metro 'system' that has cost too much money already, one metro, going from South to North, the North-South line. I refuse to use this one. Why? First the money it has cost us, second safety, third the damage it did to beautiful old buildings already.

But back to Elon Musk. I like the way he doesn't sit on the couch and complain but tries to work on a solution. Take a look at this video.

Cy Kuckenbaker's Infographic Video's

Perhaps you know Cy Kuckenbaker from his plane project in 2012. This time he finds patterns in traffic. Very interesting project by creatorsproject (Vice).

"The source footage for this video is a 4-minute shot from the Washington Street bridge above State Route 163 in San Diego captured at 2:39pm Oct 1, 2013. My aim is to reveal the color palette and color preferences of contemporary San Diego drivers in addition to traffic patterns and volumes. There are no CG elements, these are all real cars that have been removed from one sample and reorganized."

Suspended Roudabout

What a cool idea. A suspended roudabout for bicycles, The Hovenring in the Netherlands. Cars happy, bicycles happy, economy happy and it looks good. Designed by IPV Delft.

Stop Sign With Finger

I think this won't be ignored ... in the beginning.

Advertising companies JCDecaux and Shalmor Avnon Amichay/Y&R Interactive in Israel noticed that drivers were not paying attention to road safety signs. In particular stop signs were being as suggestions rather than requirements. They placed over 100 ads near intersections in Tel Aviv resembling stop signs, with the hand in the sign “giving the finger”. The text, translated in English, reads “Some signs can’t be ignored”.

Traffic In Vietnam

Crazy!!

"Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) is an amazing up and coming city. This time lapse is a culmination of 10,000 RAW images and multiple shoots capturing some of the cities relentless energy and pace of change. Everyone who has visited Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam knows part of the magic (love it or hate it) is in the traffic. Ever since I first set foot in HCMC I have been captivated by the cities energy. Saigon is a city on the move unlike anything I have experienced before which I wanted to capture and share."

Carmageddon In LA

"Carmageddon: It’s a wonderful neologism that Los Angeles residents have coined to describe this weekend’s planned closure of the 405 Freeway, a road that carries more than 280,000 cars per day across L.A. The city plans to close a 10-mile section of Interstate 405, starting at 7 p.m. Friday and reopening at 6 a.m. Monday."

Bike Lanes In NYC

Casey Neistat was ticketed for not riding his bike in the bike lane in NYC. He then proceeds to demonstrate why it is not always safe to ride in the bike lane and that they should ticket the people blocking the bike lanes.

The Slow Down App

It speeds up the music you're listening to when you drive too hard. It can better slow down the music. But hey ... it's free. You can download it here.
