WTF! What happened with using ones brain? or The five laws of stupidity

How stupid can you be. A British man carved his family’s initials onto one of the historic walls in Pompeii. He had carved three sets of initials, his own, and those of his two daughters, onto the wall. He had also written out the date: August 7, 2024. Why? He wanted to leave behind a record of his family’s trip to the ancient city.

"Under a new Italian law, visitors who deface monuments can face steep penalties of up to €40,000 (nearly $44,000)—and up to €60,000 for more serious acts of destruction. The government can use the proceeds from these fines to repair the damage."

It's not unique. 2 months ago a dutch tourist used a permanent marker.

To brush up your knowledge about stupidity:

From an essay by Professor Cipolla (1976) in which he describes the fundamental laws of a force he preceived as the greatest existential threat to humanity: stupidity.

Law 1: Everyone always and inevitably underestimates the number of stupid people in circulation

Law 2: The probability that a person is stupid is independent of any other characteristic of that person.

Law 3. A stupid person is a person who causes losses to another person or group of people when he or she does not benefit and may even suffer losses.

Law 4: Non-stupid people always underestimate the destructive power of stupid individuals.

Law 5: A stupid person is the most dangerous type of person.

Anomymous artist Hogre arrested in Italy

Anonymous artist Hogre has been arrested in Italy because of: public offense to religion (5000 Euros or a prison sentence of up to two years).

Why? See below. 'Ecce homo erectus' by Hogre, 'Immacolata conception in vitro' by Hogre’s friend doublewhY.

Freedom of speech, I don't agree.

Corrugated cardboard shapes purify air

It's not cheap, but totally worth it (if it does what they say it does). Shapes that purify the air (think tobacco, cooking). In the shapes are filters and fans. The shapes itself are made of corrugated cardboard. By NextMade from Italy.

(I had to look up 'corrugated' ... yes, I'm stupid ... and I read the most beautiful sentence ever as an example when using corrugated as a verb: "Micky's brow corrugated in a simian frown".

You can buy it here for $ 190.

Pregnancy test for men - Too late for April 1st

A pregnancy test for men. Tempo thought about this, BBDO Italy made the commercial. I think it's a hoax. So if I understand correctly, you do the test with a special device, the man gets via a phone app the result and has to tell the woman. WTF! Did a man came up with this idea?

I did a test in the bathroom of my work, alone, because I was nervous it was positive. It was positive and guess what ... I didn't came out of the bathroom for 30min. Had to get a grip on myself again. Do you think I want to wait till the seeder comes over and tell me? Your whole life is upside down.

I know an easier solution. An 'old fashioned' pregnancy test when the both of you are home.

‘Midnight Runner’ motorcycle

Sometimes I don't understand myself. I like this bike. Why? I don't know. There's something clumsy about it. The color, the front lights. I can see myself driving this contraption in Amsterdam. Back to the '80s.

It's a custom electric-powered italian café racer by the apache customs +  energica motor company.

Vertical Forest

Bosco Verticale by Boeri Studio isn't the most beautiful highrise, but it sure is special. A vertical forest in Milan. 800 Trees and 14.000 Plants. Apartments with a terrace/garden. And as far as I can see, not simpel apartments, but kind of very luxureous. I love tha bathtub.

A Bacteria Named After Frank Zappa? WTF?

The scientists named it P. Zappae. Quite an honor, is it? The bacteria causes a form of acne in humans. Mm mm. And they found it in a vineyard. It's getting weirder and weirder.

But now I've read the whole article it makes sense:

"“This bacteria is so unconventional in its behavior, and its new habitat is so unexpected that we thought of Frank Zappa. Indeed, at the time we were discovering it, we were both playing a Zappa album in our cars,” Campisano and co-author Omar Rota-Stabelli said."

Alessandro Pautasso

I never had a weak spot for Alessandro Pautasso's well-known work. It's good but for me it missed the je ne sais quoi. Up till now. His work for the Milan Bicycle Film Festival and for Greenpeace ... awesome!
