Sculptures Made Out Of Chinese Characters

This is amazing. At first I thought okay, very nice sculptures. But look at it a bit closer and read the article. Wow!

It's made by Chinese artist Zheng Lu. He doesn't use wire, no he uses stainless steel. And on top of it the form isn't random. It's for example made from the text from a poem. I love it!

Pimp My Ride

I can see myself driving around in this vehicle. Wonderful calligraphy work by Niels Shoe Meulman.

"By the time he was eighteen, Niels Shoe Meulman was already a graffiti legend tagging the word “Shoe” on walls. From the 80s, 90s to present time, he has formed a graf crew, founded his own design company, partnered in an advertising agency, and exhibited his work in international art shows. Shoe Meulman has gained much experience and has certainly kept busy. His latest artwork can be viewed in this post, and past calligraphy pieces can be seen here."

The Art Of Calligraffiti

eL Seed is a Tunisian artist, born in France, who creates large-scale works of art combining the vernacular of street art with Arabic calligraphy. What he calls "Calligraffiti" is his response to both his role as an Arabic artist in a Western-dominated art world as well as his role as an artist of the "streets."

Insect Poetry

Begin we must ... begin we shall.

"Tucked quietly away in the corner of a writer's study, The Insect Literary Society has convened this night to share new poems written by a few of its members--Moth, Firefly, Daddy Longlegs, and Dragonfly. The scholarly Book Weevil presides, commenting generally on the beauty and delicious flavor of the written word. He introduces the insect-poets who, one by one, read their works. The poems range in tone from the dreamy to the earthy and amusing, and the subject matter is the stuff that insects' lives are made of --metamorphosis, anatomy, danger, nature, beauty, and love.

INSECT POET Meme Marie Meyers, who wrote the poems featured in this film, passed away December 6, 2011. Her rare spirit and imagination inspired this film. Completed in 2002, this 6-minute, Insect Poetry is an homage to poetry and the related arts of calligraphy and bookbinding."

Calligraffiti

"Niels Shoe Meulman is filmed while making the 'Young Digging Old' logo. This logo was made for a Jumpstart Jr. project. Young musical talent was challenged to come up with their dream concert. Tim Mintiens made this film. He is also the brilliant photographer and chef art of all the Jumpstart talents"
